FAQ

Awards

Every participant who reaches the finish with 6h15 receives a finisher-medal, and a certificate and results-CD per post. This applies for the participants of the relay marathon and the mini marathon, too.

Baby carriages

We wish all young mothers and fathers lots of fun while running with their children in the baby carriage. But please take care of other runners they can easily trip over you.

Certificates

Every particpant can receive a fast certificate around 30 minutes after finishing the race in hall 1, floor 2. Every particpant will receive a results brochure including a CD per post.

ChampionChip

Mika timing is responsible for all queries concerning the ChampionChip, including distribution and return of the chip. The Dresdner Kleinwort Frankfurt Marathon serves as intermediary between you and Mika timing GmbH.

Change of competition

It is only possible to change the competition if you inform us in written form about the change. A charge of €10,- will apply and if necessary you have to pay the different charge between the competitions. You will receive a new race number. If you change without informing the race organisation, you will be disqualified as you are not registered for the right competition.

Changing rooms, showers

There is the possibility to change and take a shower at the Trade Fair, right next to the start and finish area: Hall 1.0. Please follow the signs.

Church service

A church service takes place in the festival hall (Festhalle, Blauer Saal) on Saturday, 25th October at 6pm. All runners and interested persons are welcomed to join the church service.

Clothes disposal

Trade Fair, hall 1.1 close to the start and finish area.

Companionship along the course

It is not allowed to accompany any participant of the race with a bike or any other mean of transport. This would lead to a disqualification of the participant.

Course parties

There will be overall around 100 parties along the course; bands playing music, cultural and sport organisations organise these parties.

Disqualification

You will be disqualified if you
- behave unsportsmanlike or disrespect the official regulations
- use any means that is not allowed, e. g. you are accompanied by bike
- fold, shorten or put something over your race number
- disregard the marked route
- do not run over the control mats along the course
- for relay-teams only: if you start in the wrong start corral

Dropping out

If you have to drop out for any reason, you have to make your way to the finish area. You can either take the bus at the end of the field (behind the last runners) or public transport as the race number represents your ticket. You can retrieve your kitbag at the finish area. Participants who are slower than the official target times at each 5K, will be withdrawn from the race.

Information Desk

An information desk is to be found before entering the Marathon Mall in hall 1.2.

Kindergarten

Children between three and ten years can join the kindergarten (Trade Fair Frankfurt, Torhaus) while you stroll along the marathon mall. Kindergarten teachers will supervise your children. The kindergarten is open on Saturday Sunday, 26th October 2008 8am-5pm.
There is the possibility to swaddle your baby at the first aid service station at the festival hall (Festhalle).

Lavatories

There are lavatories in the festival hall and hall 1. Besides there are toilets at the start and finish area and along the course. But note, that you may have to wait. The toilets along the course are located at 5K and 10K, afterwards, every 2.5K, right after the water station.

Massage

You can get a massage in hall 1.1 at the expo, close to the start and finish area. This service is for free for all athletes..

Medical service

Medical service is available on 26th October 2008, 11am in the Festhalle (festival hall). Moreover medical service is guaranteed along the course and at the finish area. We recommend to call for a doctor as soon as you feel any kind of physical interference.

Nutrition

It is possible to hand in your own nutrition for the race on 25th October 2008 at 4pm and on 26th October 2008 until 9am in hall 1.0, next to the baggage collection for skaters (only signed bottles (no glass): kilometer and race number). Due to organisational constraints, it is only possible to offer this service to competitive runners (Men: faster than 2h45, women: faster than 3h00) and participants who need special nutrition due to medical reasons.

There are stalls selling food and beverages at the finish area, the festival hall and along the course for all spectators.

Pace maker

We offer experienced pace makers wit hestimated finish times of 2:59:00, 3:29:00, 3:444:00, 3:59:00, 4:14:00, 4:29:00, 4:59:00, 5:29:00 and 5:59:00. You will recognise the pace maker in the start corrals as they will be holding a big ballon with the finish time.

Pasta Party

Saturday, 25th October 2008, 1.30pm-6pm, festival hall (Festhalle)
We offer to all runners a great pasta meal – with a choice of sauces made by Birkel and drinks offered by Rosbacher, Coca Cola and Binding/Clausthaler. The pasta party is for free for all runners and you will find a voucher attached at your race number. All other persons are welcomed to join the pasta party (€5,- for pasta and two drinks).

Pretzel run

The Pretzel run is our breakfast run with its start Saturday, 25th October 2008, 11am at Jürgen-Ponto-Platz, Dresdner Bank. Enjoy an easy 5K run through the city centre of Frankfurt to the trade fair. You will be welcomed at the finish with original Frankfurt pretzel, apple juice and much more. We would be happy if you would bring along to the race your club’s-, city’s or country’s flag. The first 500 runners at the start gets a t-shirt.

Public transport

Your race number allows you on 26th October 2008 to use all public transport (subway, tram and bus) in Frankfurt for free. Other persons accompanying you can purchase a special ticket at the information bus in front of the festival hall (Festhalle).

Race number

It is not possible to transfer your race number to any other person. However it is possible to transfer your place in the race. Please send us your orignial confirmation, a letter of approval and the registration of the new particpant. This will cost a charge of €10.

Radio

26th October 2008, 8am-2pm. News flashes about the Dresdner Kleinwort Frankfurt Marathon in many radio stations of Hessen and especially at hr1, our radio partner. Please refer to the programme of your newspaper for exact times.

Registration deadline

The registration deadline is 5th October 2008. Afterwards, you can only register at the registration venue on 24th and 25th October 2008 if there are still places available. It is not possible to register on race day!

Results

The results will be published on 26th October 2008 around 2am in hall 1.2 and will be kept up to date. Besides you will find the preliminary results online at www.frankfurt-marathon.com, at the race day, 26h October 2008, in the afternoon.

It is possible to raise objection against the results until latest 4th November 2008. All participants will receive an official certificate and CD with all results until the end of December per post.

Start corrals runners

There are different corrals for all runners. The start will be at 10am. Please go to your assigned start corral before 9:50 am. Your start corral is printed on the race number and you are only allowed to enter the corral that you are assigned to.

Asics corral

International elite runners and runners with a finish time to 3:00 hrs

Dresdner Kleinwort corral

Runners with a finish time between 3:00 and 3:30 hrs

VGF corral

Runners of the relay

Skoda corral

Runners of the relay with a finish time between 3:30 and 4:00 hrs

Maritim corral

Runners with a finish time between 4:00 and 4:30 hrs

Rosbacher corral

Runners with a finish time between 4:30 and 5:00 hrs

Messe Frankfurt corral

Runners with a finish time of at least 5:00 hrs and all running their first marathon

Struwwelpeter Run/Stockheaded Peter Run

For all children between five and nine years.

Please register on 24th October 2008 (hall 1.2 Mini Marathon) or on 25th October at the Forum and hand the registration form prior to the start in. Also online regsitration possible. Every child will receive a certificate.

Swimming-pool

All participants have the chance to use the swimming-pool (Saturday, 9am to 10pm; Sunday, 9am to 8pm) ‘Rebstockbad’ for free. Please take your race number or confirmation of participation with you. There is a public transport, commencing at Hemmerichsweg.

Training

We offer a project for all people who want to start at their first marathon. It starts in May 2008 and all participants will be accompanied and trained until October. For further information please contact 0049 69 37004680 or pw@frankfurt-marathon.com

There is also a trouble desk to be found at the registration venue on the race-weekend, hall 1.2.

TV

The race will be transmitted live on hessen fernsehen, 26th October 2008 10.45am to 2:30pm. Besides there will probably reports about the race on other programmes.

There are water stations every 5K. The food is ordered as follows:
1. Own nutrition (elite runners)
2. Water (to drink)
3. Rosbacher Mineral water
4. Rosbacher sport (isotonic drink)
5. Tea
5a. Coca Cola at 25K, 30K and 35K
6. bananas starting at 20K
7. Water to refresh

Weather

The average temperature in the end of Octobre is approx. 10°-14° degress Celsius. All competitions will be started regardless of the weather. It is not possible to refund the organisation fee due to unconvenient weather.

Withdrawal

It is only possible to withdraw form your start due to health reasons. Please notify us before 26th October 2008 and post a medical certificate to our office certifying your illness. You will receive a free start (only an organisation charge of €10,- will apply) for the Dresdner Kleinwort Frankfurt Marathon on 25th October 2009. We will send you a coupon in spring 2009.
