The fastest marathon course in Germany for amateur athletes

You are at the start of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon or would like to cheer on the runners as a spectator? Then familiarize yourself with our route today and prepare yourself for the #runtheskyline feeling!

In 2011, Kenyan Wilson Kipsang missed the then marathon world record by just four seconds with a time of 2:03:42 hours. Today, this time is still our course record. Likewise, top German athlete Arne Gabius took advantage of the flat Frankfurt course. The 34-year-old finished as German champion in 2015 after 2:08:33 hours, setting a new German record that lasted until 2021 after all!

And for recreational runners, the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon is the best course in Germany. According to an evaluation by marathon-ergebnis.de, the classic race on the River Main is the fastest of the five largest German marathons by a considerable margin, if the field of top international athletes is not taken into account. In Frankfurt, participants cross the finish line after an average of 3:57:56 hours; all other German marathon events have an average of over 4 hours.

The consistency of the fast Frankfurt course is popular with both top and amateur athletes, so the course remains unchanged this year.
