Long Live Our Regulars!

Gold, Silver and Bronze For Loyal Members. Frankfurt Marathon Club With Innovations On The Occasion Of The 35th Anniversary

Kalli Flach is a phenomenon. The 78 year old attends a running event almost every weekend throughout the year. “I’m always on the run”, he says. He has an entire room dedicated to medals, trophys and result lists – it’s almost a museum. Among his prized possesions are 33 finisher medals of the Frankfurt marathon. Only one time he didn’t finish because of an injury. Together with the 80 year old Horst Jendrasch, the 66 year old Peter Schmitt and Wolfgang Vogel who is 74 years old he is on top of the list of regular starters (and finishers) of the Frankfurt marathon.

Kalli is one of the first members of the Franfurt Marathon Club, of course, which was founded on the occasion of the 25th Frankfurt marathon. Everyone who finished ten times in Frankfurt since the inception in 1981 is eligible for the (free) membership. Last year we welcomed 70 new members to a total of 750 runners with an “eternal” race number. All members receive a high quality polo shirt with their personal start number and additional goodies at the race weekend.

After ten years we decided to make the Frankfurt Marathon Club even more special. All runners who finished at least 20 times in Frankfurt get a poloshirt with their start number embroidered in bronze. If you finished 25 times the number will be embroidered in silver and in gold if you finished 30 times. There are only nine gold members at this moment. Sissi Antoni (67) finished 26 times and holds the women’s record. This year though she won’t run the entire distance and will take part in the “Anniversary Relay Team” instead.
