Katharina Saathoff: From the Baltic Sea to the Main metropolis Katharina Saathoff is optimistic about the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon: her goal for the 26th of October is clear – a new personal best for her third marathon.
Although Frankfurt is new territory for the North German runner, she is looking forward to getting to know the Main metropolis. But she is particularly excited about the atmosphere along the route and the finish in the Festhalle.
Katharina does not have any special rituals before the start. However, she tries to replenish her energy reserves, avoid stress and simply look forward to the competition. She does allow herself one small personal ritual, though: painting her nails with a smiley face before the race and wearing a matching hairband – true to the motto: if you look good, you feel good.
For breakfast before the race, she always has to have East Frisian tea – as a true East Frisian, it’s a must. So she doesn’t have to go without, Katharina takes her own tea with her on her trip to Frankfurt. For breakfast, she eats white bread with jam, like many marathon runners before the start.
