Kenyans Brimin Misoi and Selly Kaptich take Frankfurt titles in warm conditions

Kenyans Brimin Misoi and Selly Kaptich took the 39th Mainova Frankfurt Marathon. 33 year-old Misoi became a surprise winner with a personal best of 2:06:11. Fellow-Kenyan Samwel Mailu, who had been a pacemaker until 30k but then continued the race, took second in 2:07:19 while Deresa Ulfata of Ethiopia was third with 2:07:30.

In contrast Selly Kaptich was one of the strong favorites. After dominating the race for large parts the 37 year-old struggled in the end but still won with 2:23:11. Fellow Kenyans Helah Kiprop and Jackline Chepngeno followed in second and third with 2:24:40 and 2.25:14 respectively. In unusually warm weather conditions with temperatures around 20 Celsius in the final section of the elite race most of the runners slowed considerably.
