The Mainova Frankfurt Marathon has recorded record participation this year: almost 17,000 runners from all over the world have secured their starting places for the marathon distance and are eagerly awaiting the big day on 26 October. This means that the field of participants is fully booked – something that has never happened before in the 41 editions of this classic race on the Main. This is a clear sign of the continuing enthusiasm for running and the special atmosphere that has characterised the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon for decades.
‘The demand was overwhelming this year,’ says race director Jo Schindler. ‘The fact that we are fully booked shows the appeal of our marathon. We are looking forward to a celebration of sport with goose bump moments, personal bests and lots of emotion.’
For anyone who has been hesitating or would like to make a last-minute decision, there is one last opportunity to register: due to sponsor quotas becoming available, there may still be a few starting places left. These can only be purchased on site at the marathon mall when you pick up your race documents. Late registration is open on Friday (24 October) from 12 noon to 7 p.m. and on Saturday (25 October) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ‘Anyone who still wants to be part of this unique marathon should take advantage of this last chance,’ says Schindler. “Every race number represents a personal story – months of training, big dreams and the moment when everything comes together. ”
The Mainova Frankfurt Marathon is much more than just a sporting competition. It is an event that connects people, cultures and generations. Whether on the course, at the hotspots along the route or at the emotional finish line in the festively illuminated Festhalle – on the last Sunday in October, Frankfurt will once again become the stage for personal successes and moving moments.
The organiser expects a total of almost 30,000 participants across all competitions. There are also only a few places left for the T. Rowe Price Relay Marathon. The children’s races – the Struwwelpeter Run on Saturday (25 October) and the Mini Marathon on Sunday (26 October) – are also almost fully booked.
Late registrations for all supporting competitions are also possible at the marathonmall when picking up your race documents.
