Things to know before the start: time change, starting grid, start times

One of the special things about the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon is the change from summer to winter time on the night from Saturday to Sunday. This means you can sleep an extra hour. However, remember to change your clock from summer to winter time so that your alarm clock wakes you up on time on Sunday.

The starting line for the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon is located at Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage towards the city centre.

The start will take place in four waves from 10 a.m. onwards. You must start the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon by 10:30 a.m.

Only runners with an official race number may enter the starting area. We urge all runners to line up in their starting block according to their performance level. The various starting blocks are numbered from 1 to 6 and named after our sponsors. Your race number will show the block you should line up in (block ‘HOKA’, block ‘Stadt Frankfurt’, block ‘Mainova’, block “Rosbacher” and block ‘Powerbar’) with the corresponding logo (to the left of the race number).

The wave you start in is determined by your starting block. Large signs with the respective sponsor logo printed on them show you the entrance to the corresponding starting block. Please follow the instructions of our helpers to ensure a smooth start. The net time is measured using timing mats, so you will not be at a disadvantage even if you start further back in the field or with the second wave. However, you could hinder faster runners if you line up in a faster starting block.

1st block ‘HOKA’: Runners with a target time of up to 3:00 hours
2nd block ‘Messe Frankfurt’: Runners with a target time of 3:00 hours to 3:15 hours
3rd block ‘City of Frankfurt’: Runners with a target time of 3:15 hours to 3:30 hours
4. Block ‘Mainova’: Runners with a target time of 3:30 hours to 3:45 hours
5. Block ‘Rosbacher’: Runners with a target time of 3:45 hours to 4:00 hours
6. Block ‘Powerbar’: Runners with target times of 4:00 hours and all participants who have not specified a target time.

By evaluating your net time, not a single second is lost, regardless of which starting block or wave you are in.

Please follow the instructions of our volunteers to ensure a smooth start.
